Unlocking the First Impression: How MoMINTum’s Memory Vault Puts the Guest at the Center of the Sales Journey

Last week, we looked at how technology and team identity can underpin a truly custom experience center, focusing specifically on the Immersive Cube® and how the same technology can tell a different story for whoever is utilizing it.

This week, we’re flipping the question: not what the technology can do, but what it should say, and to whom. That means a trip back to Charlotte, North Carolina and Tepper Sports & Entertainment’s MoMINTum Bank of America Stadium Experience Center, where brand storytelling shaped an experience custom-built for one client and no one else.

Though “the most technologically advanced preview center in sports” features a number of impressive technological touchpoints – from the Immersive Cube® to the seven-million-pixel interactive stadium table – we wanted our winning combination of research, technology and storytelling to be felt from the very beginning of each and every MoMINTum tour.

After all, first impressions matter. Tepper Sports wanted every MoMINTum tour to start with the guest, not the building. We helped them bring that to life.

We call it the Memory Vault.

What is the Memory Vault?

As the first room guests enter at the MoMINTum experience center, the Memory Vault greets each one with a personalized highlight reel sourced from 30 years of Bank of America Stadium history and Tepper Sports’ existing CRM data.

A nod to the stadium’s longstanding partnership with Bank of America and the city’s rich banking history, the room was designed to look like a bank vault. Rows and rows of safety deposit boxes fill a custom, wrapped LED touch screen, while a large bank vault door guards the entrance to the next stage of the MoMINTum journey. Each guest who enters the Memory Vault finds their name on a corresponding deposit box, then with a simple tap, unlocks the trove of memories stored inside.

The vault is the first chapter of the tour, and it’s designed so that every guest’s welcome into MoMINTum is not only personalized, but immediately positions them inside the story of Bank of America Stadium, the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC as well.

The Memory Vault at a glance:

The experience: a personalized, tailored greeting upon entry, inspired by stepping inside a private bank vault – think Spotify Wrapped for the Carolina Panthers/Charlotte FC fan.

The technology: an immersive, wrap-around LED touchscreen.

The integration: paired with Tepper Sports & Entertainment’s CRM to curate personalized reels for each visitor of MoMINTum.

The content: 30 years of stadium history, from Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC highlights to concerts, individual fan milestones and cherished memories.

The control: like every screen inside MoMINTum, the Memory Vault runs on the Advent Operating System™ (AOS), so each greeting is fully customizable, highly responsive and astoundingly simple to use. Know how to use your phone? You can use AOS.

The nod: a subtle tribute to naming rights partner Bank of America and the history of banking in Charlotte.

Exceptional sales centers are conversion tools, and conversion starts at the front door. To move a prospect from curious to committed, your welcome has to do more than say hello. It has to prove you know who just walked in and why they’re an invaluable part of your team’s history.

Here are the three principles that inspired the Memory Vault and every first impression Advent designs:

1. Research: Translate Your Brand, Your Partners and Your City’s History Into the Space

Every fanbase carries generations of memories. Our StoryMining research process is how we figure out what shape those memories should take in a specific building, for a specific city.

In Charlotte, the obvious answer was a vault.

The city has long been one of the nation’s great banking centers, and it’s the corporate home of Bank of America. The bank’s name has been fixed to the home of the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC for more than two decades, and Tepper Sports & Entertainment and Bank of America extended their partnership the same week MoMINTum opened. With that much history between the city, the stadium and its naming partner, honoring the relationship at the front door felt essential.

So, we built the welcome to mimic a bank vault. It’s a nod to the partnership, yes, but it’s also a way to signal the value of each and every guest who sets foot inside. Each of us has a vault of precious memories stored away. This room simply exists to help guests unlock them.

2. Technology: Integrate Your CRM with the Sales Experience, Not Just the Pipeline

Most sales centers treat the CRM as an administrative tool, something to be updated after the tour is over. The Memory Vault puts it to work before the tour even starts, and is able to curate a reel around the person walking in. A longtime season ticket holder sees the games they were there for. A corporate partner sees the moments their organization shared with the stadium. The same wrap-around LED touchscreen tells a different story for every guest.

What does CRM integration actually look like inside a sales center?

Three pieces have to work together, and each one has a distinct job.

The CRM supplies the story. Every guest arrives with a special connection to your team, and your CRM already holds many of those touchpoints. AOS brings them all into the room, so the experience is always highly tailored and personal to whoever walks through the door.

The content library brings it to life. Data alone doesn’t move anyone. The content library holds what actually plays on screen to match each guest’s history, and it can go as deep as your archive allows. The inaugural game at the stadium, photos from a sold-out concert, a playoff run, a rivalry win: if you have the content, it can live in the library. Because it runs on AOS, the sales team can refresh and expand it anytime.

The sales rep runs the show. Because the rep knows exactly who is coming and has the first two components working together right at their fingertips, they can set the right journey before the guest even arrives. One tap on a name queues up their personalized experience. The technology doesn’t drive the visit. The rep does. In any great story, the prospect is the hero and the rep is the guide, and the best tools are the ones that make the guide better at their job.

When those three components come together, your sales team has a powerful tool at their disposal.

3. Storytelling: Map the Sales Journey So the Welcome Is About the Guest

Most pro sports sales journeys move through the same basic stages: a welcome, a tour, a sit-down conversation, an exit and a follow-up. Most centers use the welcome to tell the team’s story. Tepper Sports used it to tell the guest’s.

Before anyone sees a rendering, a price or a seat map, the guest is reminded why this place matters to them. By the time the vault door opens to the stadium’s future, they aren’t evaluating a renovation from the outside. They’re picturing themselves in the next chapter of a story they already belong to.

Fans and partners have more places to spend their money than ever before, and when choice becomes a commodity, personalization is how you stand out. The right technology tells every guest: I know you, I see you, and you’re important to what we’re doing here.

Where should a sales center’s story begin?

With what the guest already loves about your venue. Start there, and everything after it has something to build on. A strong sales center welcome should:

  1. Recognize the guest before the pitch begins.
  2. Reconnect them with the moments that matter most to them.
  3. Reflect the organization’s identity, history and partners.
  4. Set the emotional tone for every room that follows.

The Advent Takeaway

The first room in your sales experience center sets the tone for everything that follows, so it should be about the person walking in, not the thing they’re being sold.

Getting there takes more than great technology or a great story on its own. It takes both, working together: research that uncovers what makes your organization and your city unique, technology that personalizes it for every guest, and storytelling that makes them feel like part of what comes next.

For Tepper Sports, that meant a memory vault. For your organization, it could look like something entirely different.
