Introduction

Florida Atlantic University is the home of a one-of-a-kind collection of memorabilia and artifacts that tells the American story through the lens of sports. Benefactor Avron B. Fogelman, the former owner of the Kansas City Royals, donated his collection of more than 1,300 items to display within the Schmidt Family Complex for Academic and Athletic Excellence.

Incorporating sports design and interactive digital displays, the collection is a must-see destination for sports fans and tourists. It includes artifacts used and signed by legends such as Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial, and Joe DiMaggio, among others. Additionally, it features baseballs signed by presidents, popes, world leaders, and historical figures. Altogether, the collection provides a locale for university leadership to host guests and lectures and a tool to educate the public about American history using sports as a gateway.
