Boston University Athletics engaged Advent with the goal of differentiation. Their basketball program is different from those of its neighbors. It underscores a vision that transcends basketball, emphasizing legacy, relationships, and accessibility. Rooted in a unique environment where the basketball program is deeply integrated with the broader athletic department, the project celebrates the program’s distinctiveness. Unlike many major college basketball setups, BU fosters a close-knit atmosphere where student-athletes build personal and professional networks beyond the court. The team thrives on values like selflessness, toughness, and accountability, creating a culture of respect and love between players and coaches. This project represented an opportunity to understand and communicate the BU story and brand through their facilities, telling the story of a program that is “more than basketball.”
The design prioritizes showcasing the program’s competitive legacy, highlighting conference championships and NCAA appearances. The project is aimed to craft an experience that blends high-performance sports with academic and personal growth. It captures the ethos of passion, respect, and legacy central to BU basketball. The design also seeks to create visually impactful moments, like the dimensional BU sign, while ensuring players feel valued as both athletes and individuals. Ultimately, the initiative underscores that BU basketball isn’t just about wins—it’s about leaving a lasting impact on players and the community.
